A foreigner stole from us?

That's right a foreigner stole 3.6 million social security numbers and 387,000 debit and  credit card numbers as well.

So in the state of South Carolina where this crime has taken place there are 4.7 million people who can be robbed in a big way from this action.
 
Greenville Online tells us that if you filed taxes in South Carolina in the past 14 years you are susceptible and should enroll in a consumer protection service.

The DOR was hacked

From August until October of 2012 and wasn't discovered in enough time to stop the holocaust of info stealing.

There are 16,000 credit card numbers that were stolen that are not encrypted with protection. That is a real issue here.


The hack was discovered on Oct 10 by the Secret Service and a state government agency but not reported to the victims even indirectly until October 26.

That was very questionable as it is and plenty of time for some hacker to use the information to steal billions of dollars.

Why did it take so long to be reported? We have no answer so far but there are those who want to know why we are not better protected in a case such as this.
